Dendinger earns reading award

HARTINGTON — Paxtynn Dendinger has earned the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten award. Paxtynn is the daughter of Mark and Kirsten Dendinger. She received a medal, a certificate, her final prize and a free book from the Hartington Public Library.

Paxtynn will be entering kindergarten at Hartington-Newcastle Public School in the fall of 2026.

Paxtynn loves going to the library with her mom, her brother, Heston, and her toy mermaid. She likes to read books, especially all the mermaid books. Paxtynn likes it when Miss Kim brings the Old Lady to daycare to read.

This program was launched to get children ready for school and to encourage more parent/child library visits. Books are logged and prizes are awarded along the way. One of the best ways to encourage pre-reading skills is to spend time sharing books each and every day! Reading provides a solid foundation, a key to school and learning success.

If you are Interested in learning more about this reading adventure for your child, please stop by or call the Hartington Public Library at 402-254-6245.
