Cedar claims LCC golf title

LAUREL - The Cedar Catholic golf team is coming around at just the right time as the golf season is winding down.

The Trojans took the Laurel-Concord- Coleridge Invitational at Cedarview Country Club April 16 after carding a team total of 324 which was 23 strokes in front of runner-up LCC at 347.

Ponca was third with a 353 and Elkhorn Valley was one shot back at 354 for fourth.

It took an extra hole to decide the individual medalist and two players in the playoff were Trojans.

Mav Heine and Memphis Ulrich were tied with Tekamah-Herman’s Brody Haag after all three shot a 78 over 18 holes. Heine won the playoff hole to take the top honors, Haag finished second and Ulrich wound up third.

Cedar’s Landyn Keiser also brought home some hardware finishing sixth after firing an 81.

Toby Heine and Langston Christensen each carded an 87 to round out the Trojan scoring.

Cedar Catholic will continue its season on the road at the O’Neill Invitational on April 23, the Osmond Invite at Rolling Hills Golf Club on April 25 and a home triangular on April 27.“We definitely are not at peak potential yet,” said Kuehn. “But I’m happy with our progress thus far.”
