LAUREL — Fire, which was discovered at 5:45 Tuesday morning, completely destroyed the Laurel Bakery.
From 5:45 a. m. the fire department valiantly fought the blaze and it was due to the untiring efforts of the boys the building was saved from the flames.
Dense smoke and excessive heat made it impossible to enter the building for some time and locate the source of the fire. Two lines of hose and the chemical equipment were brought in to conquer the flames and at 9 o’clock in the morning the department was successful in gaining control of the situation.
Mr. Dinkel, who was put out of business by the fire, is at the present time negotiating for another building and will probably be at work within the next few days getting located for business. There are many things which enter into his problem and at this time he can not state definitely his future plans, other than he will re-engage in business just as soon as he can find a suitable location.

LAUREL — The Hon. W. H. O’Gara, speaker of the house of representatives of Nebraska, has won many a close horse race in his day, but we venture the assertion that the closest race he ever won in his life was that of yesterday’s primary election.
He nosed out Martin Schroeder, Bloomfield pastor, for second place by a scant 12 votes.
Senator Reynolds of Niobrara was the high man in the contest showing his heels to the field in a decisive manner.
O’Gara finishes second with Schroeder a close third. Kuehn of Crofton was in fourth place with Fred Hoesing of Cedar County finishing in fifth. O’Gar now advances to be on the November ballot with Reynolds.
