HARTINGTON — The Wynot track teams turned in a handful of strong individual performances Tuesday, highlighted by top-five finishes on the girls side and a pair of standout efforts from Lane Heimes on the boys side at the Cedar Catholic Invitational.
The Wynot girls finished eighth as a team, while the boys placed eighth in a competitive field loaded with depth.
Senior standout Tiara Sudbeck paced the Wynot girls with a pair of top-seven finishes in the sprints and jumps.
Sudbeck placed fifth in the 100 meters (13.75) and followed that up with a seventh-place finish in the 200 (29.19). She also turned in one of Wynot’s top performances of the day in the field events, taking third in the long jump (15-7).
Wynot also picked up points in the 400, where Addison Sharpe ran to a fifth-place finish (1:09.84), showing strength in the middledistance events.
In the distance races, Jacy Nelson led the way with a ninth-place finish in the 800, while Sharpe doubled back to compete in the same event.
On the boys side, Lane Heimes delivered the highlight of the meet for Wynot, clearing 6-2 to win the high jump and claim the Blue Devils’ lone gold medal of the day.
Heimes also added a sixth-place finish in the 400 (1:00.52), giving Wynot valuable points in both the field and on the track.
The Devils’ sprint group also turned in solid performances. Braylon Hans placed fifth in the 200 meters (24.71) and added an eighth-place finish in the long jump, while Wyatt Nelson contributed across multiple events, including a fourth-place finish in the 300 hurdles (48.76) and a top-10 showing in the long jump.
Wynot also saw contributions in the distance events, with Bentley Guenther placing ninth in the 1,600 and Trey Gowery competing in both the 400 and 800.
