PONCA — Outdoor enthusiasts will have several chances this year to take in the sights of a rising full moon at Ponca State Park.
Park naturalists are hosting a series of guided Full Moon Hikes along the Corps of Discovery Trail, offering participants a chance to explore wooded terrain under the evening sky.
The hikes begin at the Riverfront Playground and last approximately one hour.
The trails include some steep inclines and are considered moderately challenging. Hikers are encouraged to bring water and snacks. Handheld flashlights will be provided, though participants may bring their own headlamps or lights if preferred.
Scheduled hikes include April 1 at 7:30 p.m.; May 1 at 8:45 p.m.; May 31 at 9:45 p.m.; June 29 at 9:15 p.m.; July 29 at 9 p.m.; Aug. 27 at 7:45 p.m.; Sept. 26 at 6:45 p.m.; and Oct. 25 at 5:45 p.m.
