HARTINGTON - Cedar Catholic golf coach Rick Kuehn returns his top two golfers from last year’s team that missed a trip to the state tournament by a single stroke.
“This year should be a fun year because we have most of the kids back from last year,” said Kuehn. “Maverick Heine and Langston Christensen are our lone two seniors and missing state last year didn’t sit well with the team.”
As is usual, Kuehn expects his players to keep improving.
“They know they need to improve and they have,” the coach said.
The Trojans will open the 2026 season with a couple of triangulars. One at Highland Oaks Golf Club in Ponca with the Indians and Hartington-Newcastle on April 7 and one with Stanton and Norfolk Catholic April 9 in Norfolk.
Another triangular with Battle Creek and Pierce is set for April 13 in Battle Creek then the Trojans will hit their first tournament on April 16 at the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Invitational.
The O’Neill Invitational and the Osmond Invitational at Rolling Hills Country Club will be played on April 23 and 25 respectively.
Cedar will close out April with a pair of home dates and another invita- tional, the first a triangular with Plainview and Randolph on April 27, the Cedar Catholic Invitational is set for April 28 and the Niobrara/Verdigre Invite is scheduled for April 29 at Tatanka Country Club.
The Trojans will open May at the Pierce Invitational on May 2 then the Mid State Conference Tournament will be held May 5 at the Wayne Coun try Club.
"We have a tough conference being in the Mid State, but I feel we can compete with any of them,” said Kuehn. “Like I said, it should be a fun year.”
Cedar will finish the regular season at the Battle Creek Invitational May 7 then head May 18 to Norfolk’s Fair Play Golf Course for the C-3 District Meet.
The top three teams and top 10 individuals will qualify for the Class C Nebraska Golf Championships set for May 27 and 28 at Indianhead Golf Club in Grand Island.
