1951: Randolph voters to decide fate of airport bond

March 29, 1951

RANDOLPH - A bond issue, calling for the issuance of $12,500 to build an airport at Randolph, is the chief interest in the annual Randolph city election. Election day is April 3.

The bond issue for the airport, placed on the ballot by petition, asks that bonds of $12,500 be issued by the city of Randolph for the purpose of acquiring land within or without the city limits to establish an aviation field, erect buildings and make improvements to adapt said field to the use of aerial traffic.

No active campaign in favor or against the proposed issue has been waged, in direct contrast to the active campaign carried on in 1948 when the park bond issue was proposed.

Voters going to the polls next Tuesday will also vote for two councilmen, one from each of the two wards, and two members of the school board. Candidates for both council posts and both posts on the school board are incumbents.

Candidates for the council are Dr.

G. E. Peters, first ward; Joe Sellon, second ward. For the school board positions candidates are Rev. H. E.

Hoff and Joe Sellon.
