2006: Loxi Wolf plans to retire after 35-year career here

HARTINGTON—The county will soon begin foreclosure proceedings on six pieces of Cedar County property where property taxes are owed.

Cedar County Commissioners voted to approve sending the paperwork to Cedar County Attorney George Hirschbach so foreclosure proceedings can begin.

County Treasurer Carol Wortmann said 303 parcels of land were advertised as being delinquent in February.

HARTINGTON—Students at Hartington Public School have shown kindness and compassion for a teacher who is battling Multiple Sclerosis.

Loxi Wolf will be completing her 35th year in teaching at Hartington Public School this spring. She will retire from teaching in May.

OMAHA—Several area athletes were named to this year’s Omaha World Herald All State Honorable Mention Basketball Teams.

Cedar Catholic had four athletes make the elite list. Tyler Dendinger, Kala Sudbeck, Abbie Heine, and Denae Becker all received honors.

HARTINGTON — David Burbach, a senior a Hartington Public School, has earned the highest rank attainable in Boy Scouts.

Burbach was presented the Eagle Scout badge at a ceremony held in his honor March 20.

Burbach said the experience from participating in Boy Scouts will stay with him for many years.

HARTINGTON — The interim pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hartington brings over 27 years of experience in the ministry with him.

Pastor Lowell Hennigs made the move to Hartington from Lincoln where he had served as the pastor at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church.

HARTINGTON — A pair of familiar names paced all area basketball players in scoring this season.

Dana Dickes, who played post for the Lady Trojans during their state runner-up team last year and on this year’s Class C2 Third-place team, outscored all other girls’ basketball players in Cedar County in 2011 to bring home top scoring honors.

She was also one of four Cedar County athletes named to First or Second Team All State teams by the Omaha World Herald.

Dickes and Wynot freshman Maggie Schulte were named to the Class C2 and Class D2 First Teams, respectively.

Dickes and Andy Moser were both named as Second Team All Staters last week by the Lincoln Journal Star.

HARTINGTON — Cedar Catholic’s two varsity basketball teams each landed two players on the MidStates Conference All Conference First Team. Cedar senior Andy Moser was a repeat selection on the team.

Junior Kyle Klug also earned a spot on the elite team.
