LINCOLN— Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol responded to over 40 weather related incidents during Sunday’s winter storm.
As blizzard-like conditions affected Nebraska, troopers remained busy across the state. Troopers investigated 6 crashes, performed 43 motorist assists, and assisted other agencies with 6 responses on Sunday.
At approximately 3:32 p.m.
Sunday afternoon, with assistance from Malcom Fire Department and Seward County Sheriff’s Office, troopers responded to a crash in Lancaster County. A Kia was traveling westbound on Highway 34 near mile marker 315 when it lost control due to the white-out conditions. The vehicle crossed into the eastbound lanes where it struck a Ford F150. The driver and passenger of the truck were transported to Bryan East with non-life-threatening injuries . The driver of the Kia, Ladonna Craig, 39, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
In addition to this crash, troopers worked alongside 15 other agencies to resolve a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 80 near the 420 interchange in Cass County. What began as a three vehicle crash quickly escalated to involve 30-40 vehicles.
