RANDOLPH —Pierce Jaycees representative for Outstanding Young Farmer in 1971 was Donald Brodersen and on Saturday he was named Jaycee Chapter winner at the Nebraska Jaycee Outstanding Young Farmer-Rancher Recognition banquet held in Lexington. Brodersen was selected in May 1970 as Pierce Jaycees representative.

RANDOLPH —Bruce Sellon, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sellon, attended the annual Eagle Recognition Luncheon Saturday at Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha. The luncheon honored the young men who achieved the rank of Eagle Scout during1970.

RANDOLPH —Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Albers have purchased the Cornhusker Café and began operation on March 5. The Albers have operated the Hilltop Café and Service since August, 1969 and will continue to do so.

RANDOLPH — Lynell Jensen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Jensen and a second-year student at Cottey College at Nevada, Mo., will act as ambassador for the college during Spring Break.
She will speak to interested students and P.E.O. groups.

RANDOLPH — AMPI milk producers and their families were honored at a luncheon on Wednesday at the Randolph house Café. Area producers presented the Dairymen of the Year awards were Don Helms of Belden and Gary Young of McLean.

RANDOLPH —Approximately 250 to 300 persons attended the First Randolph Community Ag & Home Show on Saturday at the City Auditorium sponsored by the Randolph Community Club with 25 booths being represented at the event.

RANDOLPH —Paul, and Julie Loberg attended the 85th Annual Blacksmith, Welders and Metal Workers Association convention March 7-9 in South Sioux city.
Also in attendance were Bob and Jenny Sellon, Louie Broer was honored as a lifetime member of the association and received a framed certification of appreciation.

RANDOLPH — The University of Nebraska-Lincoln chapter of the Golden Key National Honor Society has announced its inductees for the 2000-01 academic year. Golden Key is a national academic honors organization dedicated to excellence. Included on the honoree list is Brian Lewis of Randolph, a civil engineering student.

RANDOLPH — Randolph High senior JD Iles will close out what’s been a successful high school speech career Friday with his fourth consecutive appearance at the State Speech Tournament. Iles is the son of Ron and Greta Iles.

RANDOLPH —The federally designated flood zones for residences near the Middle Logan Creek that flows through town have been a source of frustration for some local residents for years.
Occupants of dwellings within those areas have to shell out extra insurance dollars for flood insurance and federal regulations prohibit new construction in the flood zone that was designated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers years ago.
At last week’s meeting of the Randolph City Council, it was learned that the city could apply to be part of a flood mitigation plan through the Natural Resource Commission.
