Randoloph Elementary School held its fifth annual Read-a-thon Friday to cap off Read Across America Week. The Read-a-thon event is organized by Randolph Elementary Friends — a group of area residents who work to support elementary students and teachers. Throughout the week there were dress up days where students like Wesley Gubbels (far left) could dress up. Read-Across America Week is organized by a committee of teachers, and then the Read-a-thon was held Friday. A fundraiser where students collect pledges for the Read-a-thon is also held each year. This event helps provide funds for special elementary school events such as bringing in Edgerton Science, field trips, or taking students to a school-wide movie and snacks at the Wayne movie theater. This year’s goal was $2000. If they hit $1000 they earned Pjs, and for $1500 the teachers did minute to win it games, like this sticky note game played by Cortney Nordhues (left) who was tasked with putting as many sticky notes on her face as she could in one minute. If the students raised $2000 they earned a bounce house day for later this spring. The students surpassed their goal with over $2,400 earned as displayed by Keri Severson, Theresa Schnoor, Haley Kuhl and Cary Gubbels. Jackie Loberg | Randolph Times
