LAUREL — Math and games proved to be the perfect combination for bringing families together recently at the Laurel-Concord- Coleridge School.
The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Parent-Teachers Organization K–8 (PTO) hosted its annual Family Math and Game Night on March 2 at the Laurel campus, drawing a strong crowd for an evening filled with hands-on learning and family fun.
A total of 124 people attended the event, which featured a variety of interactive stations focused on math, science, STEM and MakerSpace activities. Families also enjoyed several rounds of Bingo for prizes while spending time together and visiting the snack table for refreshments throughout the evening.
Organizers said the night was a great success and highlighted the strong support the school receives from the community.
The LCC PTO K–8 extended thanks to several sponsors who helped make the evening possible. The City of Laurel donated a family pool pass, Citizens State Bank in Laurel provided bottled water, and the Great Plains Zoo in Sioux Falls donated zoo tickets. Two private donors also contributed prizes for the Bingo games.
The PTO also expressed appreciation to the families, volunteers and community members who attended and helped support the event.
Two additional PTO-sponsored events are planned in the coming weeks.
The Father–Daughter Dance, titled “Diamonds in the Rain,” will be held Saturday, March 28, beginning at 4:30 p.m. in the Elementary Commons.
Later in the spring, mothers and sons are invited to attend a western-themed Mother–Son Game Night on Saturday, April 11, at 6:30 p.m., also in the Elementary Commons.
