LAUREL - Work was started the first of the week in getting the room formerly occupied by the Harper store ready for a motion picture theatre and Manager George Sulz is now bending every effort to get the show open soon.
As this is written the exact date of opening cannot be given as it depends on how rapidly the necessary changes can be made in the room. But it will not be later than the first of the month and there is every possibility of it being sooner than that as the work is progressing nicely at this time.
Watch this paper next week for the exact date and opening program.
Since the Auditorium fire Laurel has been without a picture show and as a result people are visiting the neighboring towns. However the local show will be in operation in a very short time and the same high class programs will be shown as this community has become accustomed to. The fact that Mr. Sulz is on the job and rushing things as fast as possible will be most pleasing news to his many patrons throughout the community. It is too early yet to say.

LAUREL - The Holms Cafe is closed this week for extensive remodeling. The partition is being moved back and the kitchen is also being moved further back so as to give more room in front. The change will allow the cafe to seat many more patrons during rush hours and is a much needed improvement.

LAUREL - Russell Havaland, former creamery operator in this city, will re-engage in the business according to a statement released by Mr. Havaland.
He tells us that he has purchased the equipment to give Laurel and surrounding community a modern, up-to-date creamery and that he plans to be in operation by the first of April.
Mr. Havaland started the creamery business in this city several years ago and retired from it a year ago.
He is an expert butter-maker and knows the business in all its phases. And he is well and most favorably known to the people of the community as a good business man.
The location of the new business will be in the north end of the old hotel building, according to plans that are presently in place. That area is now being put into shape for the installation of all the necessary equipment which will be arriving here shortly.
This will make a central location for the business and be handy for the patrons.
