HARTINGTON - Representatives from Hartington’s two high schools will take part in the District 3 declamation and one-act play contest at Wayne State Teachers College March 18.
Hartington public school and Holy Trinity students who will compete in the annual event are: Holy Trinity — Shirley Dietsch, prose reading; Judy Eickhoff, poetry; Jolene Roth, original public address; Mary Foecke, extemporaneous; Mary Jean O’Gara, interpretative public address; Mary Foecke and Ruth Feilmeier, discussion; drama reading group composed of Tom Petsche, Jane Kramer and Carolyn Walz in “Caesar and Cleopatra.” Sister M. Terence is the coach.
Hartington high — Carol Preitauer, poetry; Arlis Bottolfsen, interpretative public address; Janice Lorentzen, oral interpretation of prose literature; Larry Dertien, radio and television commentary; one-act play, “Suppressed Desires” featuring Judy Berglund, Jim Weir and Sharon Gartner; and drama group composed of Carol Preitauer, Sharon Gartner, Julie Riibe and Jerri Chaloupka in “Gray Bread.”
Miss Janice Simpson and Mrs. Vernon Nedrow are speech coaches.

HARTINGTON - Rev. O. L. Levorson, pastor of Trinity Lutheran church here for 19 years, has announced his resignation this week.
Rev. Levorson is going to Madison, Minn., where he will be associate pastor of Faith Lutheran church. There is a congregation of about 1,600 members there.
Rev. and Mrs. Levorson will leave Hartington about June 1. Rev. Levorson was installed as pastor of Trinity Lutheran church here January 25, 1942. He received a bachelor of arts degree from Luther College at Decorah, Ia., and his bachelor of theology from Luther Seminary at St. Paul, Minn. He was pastor at Dunseith, N. D., and DeSmet, S. D., before coming to Hartington.

HARTINGTON - June Martins was re-elected president of the Hartington Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary at a meeting in the VFW clubroom here last Thursday night.
Other officers re-elected were Evelyn Meyerott, senior vice president; Gayle Obermeyer, junior vice president; Marge Habenicht, treasurer; Betty Lucht, chaplain; Phyllis Olson, guard; and Winnie Christensen, Vellina Berglund and Mina Miller, trustees. LaVerne Evans was elected conductress.
Appointed officers are Opal Rohde, secretary; Marge Habenicht, Serene Hahn, Opal Rohde and Gayle Obermeyer, color bearers; LaViera Samelson, banner bearer; Corinne Hydinger, flag bearer; Shirley Pembrook and Lorraine Pedersen, guards; Pat Berglund, historian; Marie Walz, patriotic instructor and Ethel Reifert, musician.
Delegates elected for the District 3 convention in Randolph April 16 are Evelyn Meyerott, Phyllis Olson, Betty Lucht, Opal Rohde, Gayle Obermeyer and Marie Walz. Alternates are Pat Berglund, Esther Colling, Winnie Christensen, Vellina Berglund, Marge Habenicht and Corinne Hydinger.
Lunch was served at the close of the meeting by Mrs. Marvin Greiss, Mrs. Carl Samelson and Mrs. Don Lucht.
