Hartington City Council approves sign permit, accepts resignation

HARTINGTON — The Hartington City Council ap- proved a sign permit and discussed some possible fixes for two roads with chronic drainage issues during a brief meeting here Monday night.

The Council approved a sign permit for Reps Fitness at 120 N. Broadway, which was recently purchased by Preston Rose.

While giving their reports at the close of the meeting, Mayor Mark Becker said he had been in contact with County Commissioner Dave McGregor who mentioned the county was planning to chip seal the road in front of the fairgrounds in the upcoming months and said the city might be able to get a good price if they have a project that needs to be done at the same time.

Council members discussed a couple of roads, noting North Broadway to the cemetery may be in need of an update soon. They also discussed drainage issues on that road and possible ways to alleviate that problem. No action was taken, however.

Some changes may also need to be made to the Felber Park road, as well, he noted. Delivery trucks headed to the golf clubhouse are having trouble navigating the corners at the park, he noted.

Also Monday, the Council accepted the resignation of long-time EMT Donna Davey. Davey noted in her letter of resignation that the EMT squad has been 'an amazing crew to work with.'

Mayor Becker expressed the city's appreciation for

her eorts and the eorts of the entire EMT squad.

'We love those people, they do amazing work,' he said.

The Council also approved a new contract with Krier Technologies of Norfolk for an o-site comput er back up system. Hartelco used to provide these services, but informed the city they will no longer be oering the service. The new contract includes a $295 annual fee and a $1,400 set up fee.

The next Hartington City Council meeting will be at 5 p.m. Monday March 24 at Hartington City Hall.

Anyone wishing to get an item on the city agenda must first submit a request by 4:30 p.m. on the Wednesday prior to the meeting.
