RANDOLPH - More Randolph men were discharged and returned to Randolph. In the latest group were Cpl. Gaylard Gries, PhM3c Francis E. Wintz, S2c Marvin J. Leiting, Sgt. Harry Gosch, Pfc. James L. Kimball, T/5 Wayne E. Ewing.

RANDOLPH - Mrs. S. E. Strom, 88, suffered a hip fracture when she fell at her home.

RANDOLPH - Lyle Gene, three weeks old twin son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Alderson, died in a Sioux City hospital. Burial was at Belden.

RANDOLPH - H. D. Lienemann returned from Plattville, Wis. where he bought 12 purebred Guernsey heifers to add to his dairy herd of 52 cows and heifers.

RANDOLPH - Harold Sherwood bought the Hill-Buol block building, which houses the Model Clothing store, Peterson’s Variety store, Gamble store and West Side cafe.

RANDOLPH - Mrs. Ed Paulson bought a residence from C. M. Miller of McLean; T. M. Kaiser bought the Julia Taggart residence; Mrs. Tony Leiting bought the residence of Mrs. Sadie Wintz.

RANDOLPH - Herman Broer has just completed remodeling of the upstairs of his building into three apartments. This upper story formerly housed the IOOF hall.

RANDOLPH - The ladies of the Wareham club entertained their husbands Friday evening at a card party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lippold. Pinochle was played at four tables with Mrs. Joe Gubbels and Elmer Leiting being awarded high score prizes and Mrs. Ernest Witte and Earl Cunningham low score prizes. Lunch was served at a late hour.

RANDOLPH - The Morning Eagle PTA held its regular meeting Friday in the Eagle Valley school house.

Miss Elanora Norman, the local president read the state president’s message stressing safety, health and hygiene. The PTA radio program will continue until April 10th.

Mrs. Art Kuhl gave the lesson, “Let Us Get Rid of Prejudice” from the National Parent Teachers magazine. A report of the School Board Association was read by Carson Bacon, secretary of the Cedar county association. Founders Day was observed with a program. The first number a skit by the pupils of both schools. Recognition of Birney P. Hearst memorial and honoring our own charter members and former presidents with memorial cards.

Mrs. Carson Bacon read the minutes of the first meeting held by the local organization, and a card of congratulation from Mrs. Albert Strøm of Bloomfield. Mrs. Selma Grant, a former charter member gave a history of the founding of the local PTA. Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Bacon were present at the exercises.

A decorated Founder’s Day birthday cake, a gift was sold for $1.60 and a gift of $2.50 was presented to our organization by Mr. and Mrs. Jess Bass who are leaving the community.

RANDOLPH - The fifth and sixth grades are beginning their six weeks tests. In a language examination Shirley Backer and Gail Landburg received grades of 97 or above. In a unit test over the South Atlantic states Edward Atwood earned a grade of 100.

They have completed the health books and are now studying science. Those students receiving a score of 90 or above in the final health test were Bobbie Bernet, Gail Landburg, and Duane Lewis.

RANDOLPH - Fourth graders are beginning the process of multiplying by two figure numbers.

The third graders are reviewing the fours and fives in multiplication.

The fourth grade geography students are studying the Netherlands. They are beginning a Dutch project in the sand table.

We are studying the Pawnee Indians in third grade history. The pupils received their new books this week.

Both English class students have written stories about George Washington.

Mrs. James Jensen was a visitor in our room this week.

RANDOLPH - The Randolph second graders finished the book ‘David’s Friends’ this week and began a new reader ‘Busy Days With Little Friends.’

Those receiving 100 in spelling all week were Joyce Delozier, Jarrett Boerner, Judy Andrew, Renee Lamphear, and Sara Jo Atwood.

We have another new member in our first grade, making a total of twenty-six now in our room.
