WISNER — The LCC speech team traveled to Wisner Feb. 21 to compete in a meet, where all participants performed well. There were 21 teams competing in what was a NIETOC qualifying meet.
Several events had three levels of finals - recycled, white and green. Recycled finalists received “recycled” medals and trophies that have been rescued from the landfill. Those who placed included Kennedy Hall, fifth place in Persuasive Speaking (in the green or top final), and Faith Galvin, placed second in Recycled Final in Extemporaneous Speaking. The OID team, Kennedy Hall, Ava Christiansen, and Nolan Nordby, earned fifth place in the white final.
Students received valuable feedback from the judges that they can use to improve at future competitions. The team’s home meet will be held Feb. 28, and the conference meet is scheduled for March 9. The public is welcome to come and show support for the team.
