CROFTON — It was a gold rush for the Hartington-Newcastle Wildcats on Saturday.
The Wildcats captured six of the 10 events to run away with the team championship at the Crofton Invite at Crofton High School.
Hartington-Newcastle piled up 21 medals and finished with 78 team points. Wausa Vikings claimed runner-up honors with 40 points.
“The team performed well Saturday,” coach Kyle Stevens said. “We have really been working hard and a lot of performances are really developing nicely.”
The Wildcats will host Speech Night for the public at Hartington-Newcastle Public Schools on Tuesday, March 3 at 6:30 p.m.
The team will compete on Saturday, March 7 when they travel to Columbus for a triangular with Columbus Scotus and David City. The GNAC Conference meet is Monday, March 9 at Lutheran High in Norfolk.
