The Wynot middle school FCCLA went to Our Savior Lutheran Church, Wayne, Feb. 18, to help prepare plastic bags to make sleeping mats. The students collected 16,673 plastic bags and donated them to the church. As part of FCCLA week the students then celebrated leadership and community service by going to Wayne, where the students learned how to fold, cut and tie bags together to create balls that are then crochet/weaved into sleeping mats. The church then takes the mats to Omaha where they are given to homeless individuals, and sent around the world. As Rev. Chad of Our Saviour Lutheran Church said, “Kindness is contagious.”
