Wynot boys roll past LCC Bears

LAUREL — Wynot Blue Devils closed out the regular season in emphatic fashion Friday night, rolling past Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Bears 75-45 on the road.

A dominant first half set the tone, as the Blue Devils built a commanding 39-14 halftime lead and never looked back.

Wynot’s balanced attack was paced by Devin Brummer with 16 points. Nixen Heimes added 10, while Justin Heimes and Lance Heimes each finished with nine.

LCC was led by Cade Johnson with 16 points and Drey Puppe with 12. The Bears stayed within striking distance early. Tanner Thompson knocked down a three-pointer in the opening quarter, and Puppe and Johnson each added a bucket. Wynot countered with six points from Kotner Koch, four from Brummer and a traditional three-point play by Justin Heimes to take a 15-8 lead after one.

The Blue Devils broke the game open in the second quarter, using a 24-6 run to seize control. Koch and Brummer each scored five points during the surge, Justin Hans and Lance Heimes added four apiece, and Braylon Hans drained a trey as Wynot extended its advantage to 39-14 at the break.

LCC showed life in the third quarter. Puppe scored seven points, while Johnson and Paxton Hoeppner each added five. Wynot answered with seven points from Koch, four from Brummer and a three-pointer by Killian Steinhaus. Jace Lange, Braylon Hans and Justin Heimes also contributed baskets as the Blue Devils stretched the lead to 60-31 heading into the final period.

Johnson added five more points and Puppe hit a three in the fourth for the Bears. Wynot matched the effort with treys from Nixen Heimes and Dylan Wieseler, along with baskets from Steinhaus and Lange, sealing the 75-45 victory.
