WYNOT — The Wynot Lady Blue Devils punched their ticket to district play Thursday night, cruising past the Wausa Lady Vikings 54-36 in the D2-5 Subdistrict final.
Wynot’s full-court pressure set the tone early. The Lady Vikings were held to just one point in the opening quarter as the Blue Devils jumped out to a 14-1 lead. Kenna Oligmueller scored six points in the period, while Addison Sharpe and Haley Wieseler each connected from three-point range.
Wausa struggled to find rhythm in the first half and trailed 29-10 at the break. Taylor Dawson knocked down a pair of three-pointers in the second quarter and Izzy Seagren added a basket inside, but Wynot answered with two more treys from Sharpe and five points from Wieseler to extend the margin.
The Lady Vikings showed more life in the third quarter. Reagan Gillian scored four points, and Seagren and Kenley Anderson each hit from beyond the arc. Oligmueller responded with nine points in the period, and Jaylin Geisen and Wieseler added baskets as Wynot carried a 42-24 advantage into the final frame.
Both teams scored 12 points in the fourth quarter. Dawson finished with a team-high 14 points for Wausa, while Gillian added nine. Oligmueller led all scorers with 21 points for Wynot. Wieseler contributed 14, and Sharpe finished with nine on three three-pointers.
Wynot sealed the 54-36 victory with late baskets from Oligmueller and Wieseler, along with buckets by Taylor Pinkelman and Jordan Foxhoven, advancing to district competition.
Wynot travels to McCool Junction Friday for the District title game and a chance to go to State.
