Hochstein brothers go for the gold

OMAHA — Cedar Catholic wrestlers will have a busy day on the Championship Saturday mat at the CHI Center.

The Hochstein brothers — Bodie, Easton and Brady — all grabbed a spot in the finals of the NSAA Class C Boys Individual Wrestling Championships at the CHI Health Center Friday as all three Cedar Catholic wrestlers won semifinal matches.

Bodie (144) and Easton (150) arrived at the finals for the second straight season and are both returning as state champions.

Brady (165) also made the finals for the second consecutive year and was the runner-up last time out.

Bodie was taken to the limit Friday in his match to move on, defeating Gavin Cheek of Mitchell by the ultimate tie-breaker after the two wrestled to a 4-4 tie. He will take on Drake Hasbrouck of Cozad in the finals who will bring a 37-8 record.

Easton wrestled to a major decision, 11-0, over Kamden Boyles of Superior in the semis and will take on 47-4 Landon Sund of Bishop Neumann.

Brady also used a major decision of 9-1 over Chadron's Layne Davis to take on Daron Dozler of Boone Central.

Hochstein and Dozler will be meeting for the fifth time this season with Dozler winning three and Hochstein winning most recently in the district finals 9-3. The three Dozler wins were razor thin.

Earlier in the day Friday, Mav Heine at 132, who has been wrestling with a torn ACL, was eliminated from the tournament with an 11-5 loss to Luke Farmen after defeating Ramon Villalobos of Madison by a technical fall of 16-0 at the 2:08 mark of the bout.

Teammate Keyan Wickre was also eliminated early Friday when he was pinned by Teagan Rerucha of David City after 4:14 passed in that match.
