OMAHA - Bentley Reimers grabbed a spot on the medal podium Friday in the consolation bracket of the NSAA Class D Boys Individual Wrestling Championships at the CHI Health Center in Omaha.
Reimers won two matches Friday to move on to wrestle in the consolation semifinals in the 113-pound weight class today.
"We haven't had a four-time placer for a while and I placed last year," said Reimers. "I want to improve on that. I want to get a win tomorrow then win again."
Two wins would get the sophomore to third place and one would get him into the fifth-place bout.
"We were talking about it earlier to day and we all agreed, Bentley wrestled his best match to get down here," said Cardinal coach, Mark Lech. "He's worked too hard and wrestled too well to see that unravel, I was happy for him to get through to the medals."
Cole Jensen got one win at 138 pounds to open his Friday.
Jensen pinned Dylan Titus of Ainsworth at the 1:33 of his match to move on to the second consolation round before exiting the tournament with a loss which would have put him in the heartbreak round.
"I was really happy to see Cole get a win down here," the coach said. It will really help him down the road."
