RANDOLPH - The Randolph Lady Cardinal basketball team ended its regular season with a couple of losses, one on the road and one at home before embarking on the post season portion of the schedule.
The Lady Cards dropped a 63-29 contest to Stuart on Feb. 13 at home after dropping a brutal 80-22 loss to Elgin Public/Pope John on the road on Feb. 12.
The Lady Broncos came to town to take on the Lady Cards and sprinted to a big 20-2 lead by the end of the opening eight minutes.
Randolph played better in the second frame but the Lady Redbirds were still outscored 16-10 to send the teams to the intermission, Stuart in front with a somewhat commanding 36-12 advantage.
The Lady Broncs added seven points to the lead then coasted to the 63-29 final score.
Two Lady Cards hit double figures in the contest paced by Delayne Thompson who posted a dozen. Abbey Backer added 10 and Lilly Kuchta tossed in six. Braylee Kelley added a charity toss to round out the Lady Cardinal scoring.
The Lady Wolfpack sprinted from the opening tip and never really looked back taking a 26-5 lead after one, extending it to 46-11 at the break then added 15 points to the Lady Card deficit in the third frame on the way to the 80-22 final.
Statistics were not available for the game with the Lady Wolfpack.
The Lady Cards lost to Osmond in the opening round of the Class D2-5 Subdistrict Tournament on Feb. 16 and ended their season.
Winside and Wausa are on the other side of the bracket in the tournament which is set to conclude on Feb. 19 in Wynot.
