MADISON - Thayer Central outlasted four other teams to win the Class C-1 District Wrestling Tournament Saturday.
Boone Central was second with 125, Cedar Catholic was third with 123.5, Pender was fourth with 119.
Laurel-Concord-Coleridge scored nine points and ended the tournament with no one moving along to Thursday’s State Class C State Tournament beginning Feb. 19.
The Bears got match wins from Alex (165) and Paul Allison 175) and earned a couple from Jake Lipp at 190.
Lipp was beaten in his first match of the day then defeated Jacob Rosencrantz from Cedar Bluffs by fall in 1:44.
He defeated Justin Wisnieski from Malcolm by a decision of 7-2 and ended his season in the next round.
Alex Allison won his second match at 165 pounds and Paul Allison also won his second bout at 175.
The Bears improved over the winter in the first year of competing on their own and look to get better next year.
