WAUSA — If momentum matters heading into the heart of speech season, the Hartington-Newcastle Wildcats have plenty of it.
The HNS Speech team swept both the varsity and junior varsity divisions Saturday at the Wausa Invite, bringing home two team championships in dominant fashion.
The Wildcats captured the varsity crown with 65 points, well ahead of runner-up Wausa with 39.
Not to be outdone, the JV squad capped an undefeated season with its third straight team title. HNS totaled 43 points to outdistance Osmond, which finished second with 29.
“We are so proud of the way the students competed,” HNS Speech coach Kyle Stevens said. “Everyone has been working hard, and we have seen a lot of growth in recent weeks.”
The Wildcat speech teams will be in action once again this Saturday when they travel to Crofton for an invitational at Crofton High School.
