Cedar girls wrap up regular season with an 11-12 m

ark CLEARWATER — The Cedar Catholic Lady Trojan basketball team wrapped up the 2025-26 regular season with a 11-12 record.

The Lady Trojans dropped a pair of games to open, then won a game on the road in their final regular season match up.

Cedar Catholic defeated Summerland 62-43 on Feb. 13 after falling to Battle Creek the night before, 48-32 and dropping a 64-29 decision to unbeaten Elkhorn Valley on Feb. 10.

In the win over the Lady Bobcats, Cedar Catholic used a strong first half to take control of the game.

The Lady Trojans led 16-8 at the end of the first period then added 11 points to the advantage by the halftime buzzer.

Cedar added two points to the lead in the third and Summerland took them back in the final eight minutes as the score settled at the 62-43 final.

Anisten Wortmann and Addison Walter paced the Lady Trojan offensive attack with 19 and 16 points and eight and six rebounds respectively.

Savannah Pick grabbed five missed shots and swiped four steals.

Brynn Bernecker dished out four assists, Autumn Kathol recorded three.

Battle Creek came to Hartington on Feb. 12 and left town with the 48-32 win.

Walter led the Lady Trojan scoring attack with 15 points, Wortmann and Pick each recorded six.

Walter and Pick yanked down eight rebounds apiece, Wortmann and Mara Bernecker each grabbed four missed shots.

Camryn Loecker handed out three assists and added two steals to her evening. Wortmann also swiped a couple of steals from the Bravettes.

Highly regarded and top ranked Elkhorn Valley traveled to town Feb. 10 unblemished and left town the same way after the 64-29 win.

The Lady Falcon defense gave the Lady Trojans fits as Cedar Catholic scored eight points in the first three quarters then allowed just five in the final eight minutes.

Walter was the lone Lady Trojan in double figures after scoring 13 points, Wortmann added nine, Loecker scored three and Bryyn Bernecker and Madison Eickhoff each had a bucket.

Wortmann hauled in nine rebounds and handed out five assists. Loecker recorded three steals.

The Lady Trojans were set to take on Lyons-Decatur Northeast in the opening round of the D1-4 Subdistrict Tournament at Bancroft-Rosalie High School in Bancroft.

The winner of that game will take on the winner of a game between the Lady Panthers and Hartington-Newcastle on Feb. 19 at 7 p.m.
