HARTINGTON — Cedar County Communities for Kids is proud to sponsor the 2026 Cedar County Early Childhood Conference, March 7,from 8 a.m.-1:30 p.m., at the Laurel Community Center. This fast-paced and engaging conference is designed for early childhood professionals, classroom teachers, parents, and anyone who works with or cares for young children.
Professional development is an essential investment for anyone working with young children. In Nebraska, child care licensing requires early childhood professionals to complete 12 hours of annual continuing education, and conferences and workshops offer meaningful opportunities to meet those requirements while strengthening skills, knowledge, and professional confidence. Participants will gain practical, researchbased strategies to support healthy brain development, intentionally foster early language and literacy through play, and sustain their own well-being while working with young children.
Sessions include “Little Kids’ Brains and Screens” with Elijah and Sarah Landell of ScreenStrong, which examines the science of early brain development and offers practical guidance for managing screen use. “Playful Pathways to Literacy” presented by Haley Jackson Perez, highlighting how everyday play can become a powerful, literacy-rich learning experience. “You’re a Winner!” with motivational speaker Juli Burney, a humor-filled session focused on reducing burnout and strengthening self-esteem.
The CECO Early Childhood Conference is made possible through the generous support of local businesses that recognize the vital role early care and education professionals play in workforce development. High-quality child care allows families to work with peace of mind, knowing their children are learning and thriving in safe, nurturing environments.
The cost to attend is $30, which includes 4.5 professional development hours, lunch and refreshments, and access to Farm to School curriculum resources. Space is limited, and registration closes March 2, 2026. A snow date of March 14, 2026, is planned if needed.
