WAKEFIELD - The Cardinal wrestler wound up eighth in the Wakefield Boys Invitational Wrestling Tournament in their final tune up before heading to the district meet this week.
Arlington took home the team title with 139.5 points while Neligh- Oakdale was second with 1222 and Wayne was third with 116.5 points.
Randolph posted 70.5 points to take the eighth spot in the team standings.
Bentley Reimers improved to 40-4 on the season after grabbing a couple of wins and a loss during the meet to place second at 113 pounds.
Reimers used a pin and a technical fall in his first two matches before running into a buzzsaw named Francisco Juan Lucas of Madison in the finals where Reimers dropped the bout by technical fall, 19-1 at the 5:46 mark of the match.
Tate Brodersen ended up third at 144 pounds. He won his first two matches by fall before running into Corbin Hoefer who was undefeated on the season and remained that way with a pin over Brodersen to move to 46-0.
Brodersen ended the tournament the right way with a pin over EJ LaTray of Winnebago to improve his season mark to 38-10.
Eli Bermel ended up fourth at 165 after a pin and a decision in the first two rounds, a loss in the semifinals, a win by disqualification in the consolation semis and loss in the 3rd-place match to Taven Ocampo of Wayne.
Cole Jensen went 2-2 at 138 to improve to 40-9 on the year, Stewart Umberger (285) was 3-2 on the day while Kamdin Worlein (138) and Josh Miller (150) each won a match.
The Cards are set to wrestle in the D-1 District Wrestling Tournament at Oakland-Craig on Feb. 13 and 14 along with 22 other teams.
