LAUREL - The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Lady Bears split the final two games in the Greater Northeast Activities Conference Basketball Tournament taking third place.
The Lady Bears dropped a semifinals game with West Holt 47-44 on Feb. 6 to end up in the third place game in Laurel on Feb. 7 which they won 63-38 over Plainview to claim the third-place plaque.
The Lady Bears jumped out to a 21-9 lead at the end of the first quarter against the Lady Pirates.
The game was tied 4-4 early on when Carlie Kvols knocked down a 3-pointer, Karli Ferris scored inside and Kvols canned another long ball and the Lady Bears were up 12-4.
Plainview scored inside then Kaida Eriksen launched a trifecta and the LCC lead was up to 15-6.
Rena Rasmussen hit one from deep and with 1:34 left in the opening frame the Lady Bears were in front 18-6.
The Lady Pirates answered with a three but Eriksen would hit another bucket from beyond the arc and the first quarter ended with the 21-9 lead for Laurel-Concord-Coleridge.
Rasmussen finished the game with 24 points, Eriksen had 16 and Kvols tossed in 13.
Rasmussen made it a doubledouble with 22 rebounds, Hattie McCorkindale grabbed eight missed shots and Kvols and Ferris had six and five rebounds respectively.
Eriksen handed out eight assists and tied Rasmussen for the team lead with three steals apiece.
The Lady Bears led the Lady Huskies in the GNAC semifinals until the final frame.
LCC led 14-8 after one, 26-20 at the half and 36-31 at the end of the third.
West Holt outscored the Lady Bears 16-8 in the final eight minutes to steal the win and advance to the finals and send Laurel-Concord-Coleridge to the consolation game.
Eriksen had a huge night pouring in 25 points including a 7-for-11 performance from deep.
Rasmussen added 13 and just missed another double-double after yanking down nine rebounds. She also dished out four assists.
The Lady Bears are set to hit the road for their final regular season game at Wisner-Pilger on Feb. 12.
