Wildcat grapplers wrestle in Clarkson-Leigh Invite

LEIGH - The Hartington-Newcastle wrestling team traveled down to Leigh for the Clarkson-Leigh Boys Wrestling Invitational Tournament Feb. 6.

Cedar Catholic won the team title with 154.5 points.

The Wildcats ended up 13th in the team race after scoring 41 points on the day.

Every wrestler won at least one match and the ‘Cats were led by Ty Opfer at 157 pounds who finished second, winning his first two bouts by decision before falling by a pin in the finals.

Grady Lammers placed fourth at 126 after going 3-2 in the tournament.

Logan Kneifl finished the meet 2-2 at 132 and Cris Kneifl was 1-2 at 175 pounds.

Hartington-Newcastle will travel out to Elm Creek Feb. 13 and 14 for the Class D-2 District Wrestling Tournament.

Hartington-Newcastle Individual Results: 

126 - Grady Lammers (4th) defeated Charlie Beck (T-H) by fall, 1:59; defeated Keyan Wickre (CC) by fall, 0:21; was defeated by Keigan Kocian (EABU) by major decision, 10-2; defeated Mason Faltys (CL) by fall, 0:59; was defeated by Kooper Schrunk (PEN) by decision, 7-3.

132 - Logan Kneifl (2-2) was defeated by Nixon Richardson (MNJV) by fall, 1:08; defeated Garrett Graham (HULI) by fall, 1:24; defeated Griffin Ackerman (T-H) by fall, 0:19; was defeated by Nixon Richardson (MNJV) by fall, 0:57.

157 - Ty Opfer (2nd) defeated Sawyer Pruss (BCAT) by decision, 7-4; defeated Hunter Kuchta (CC) by decision, 5-3; was defeated by Landon Burt (T-H) by fall, 1:01.

175 - Cris Kneifl (1-2) was defeated by Boyd Frazey (PEN) by fall, 1:00; defeated Jack Dart (BISH) by fall, 0:31; was defeated by Jaxson Kellogg (BCAT) by fall, 4:03.
