Wynot girls fall in OT in thirdplace game

WYNOT — Winnebago pulled away in overtime to claim a 59-53 win over Wynot in the consolation game of the Lewis and Clark Tournament.

After the game was tied at the end of regulation, Winnebago outscored Wynot 15-7 in the extra period to secure the victory.

Both teams had three players score in double figures. Jacel Blackbird led Winnebago with a game-high 22 points, while Jolan Blackbird added 17 and Marleigh Littlebear finished with 11.

Wynot was paced by Addison Sharpe, who hit five three-pointers on her way to 18 points. Kenna Oligmueller followed with 16 points and Haley Wieseler added 13 for the Lady Devils.

Wynot held a 24-19 halftime lead and entered the fourth quarter up 32-31 after Winnebago trimmed the deficit in the third.

The teams traded baskets down the stretch, with free throws by Jacel Blackbird tying the game at 46-46 and sending it into overtime.

Winnebago sealed the win at the free-throw line in overtime, finishing with a decisive 9-2 edge from the stripe.
