LAUREL - In the final tuneup before the Greater Northeast Activities Conference Girls Basketball Tournament, the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Lady Bears wasted little time in taking control of a nonconference game against Wakefield Jan. 29 on the way to a 62-28 win over the Lady Trojans.
In fact, by the time the dust settled on the opening eight minutes, the Lady Bears were already in front, 24-3.
A 21-point second quarter put the game out of reach and Laurel-Concord-Coleridge never looked back on their way to the big 34-point victory.
LCC used an offensive threeheaded monster in the form of Rena Rasmussen, Carlie Kvols and Kaida Eriksen.
Rasmussen posted a doubledouble in the contest with 17 points and a dozen rebounds.
Kvols had a 4-for-6 shooting performance from beyond the 3-point line to lead her to 16 points. She also helped teammates out by dishing out six assists .
Eriksen put up 15 points and swiped six steals on the evening.
The Lady Bear defense held the Lady Trojans to under 21% shooting from the field and forced 25 turnovers.
