LAUREL — The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge first-grade students recently enjoyed an exciting and educational field trip to Security Bank, where learning came to life in a real-world setting. During the visit, students were given a behind-the-scenes look at how a bank operates and how money is handled safely and responsibly.
The students explored the drivethru area, watched the coin counter in action, and learned how coins are rolled and prepared for customers. One of the highlights was seeing the night deposit vault and learning how businesses safely deposit money after hours.
The class was also fascinated by the security camera room and enjoyed hearing how banks work hard to keep people’s money secure. They also were able to see the bank vault and safety deposit boxes. They were especially excited to see a real-life customer depositing money, which helped them connect what they were learning to the real world. This hands-on experience helped students make meaningful connections to classroom learning about money, community helpers, and financial responsibility. The first graders left with big smiles, great questions, and a deeper understanding of how banks serve the community.
