Wynot boys ground Cardinals in L&C Tny.
WYNOT - The Randolph Cardinal basketball team made the trip north to take on Wynot on Jan. 27 and the Cards ended up on the wrong end of a 59-39 ballgame to fall to 9-4 on the season while the Blue Devils improved to 9-9.
The second and third quarters spelled doom for the Redbirds as they scored just six points in each frame while Wynot scored 31 points in the middle periods to open up a one-point game after the first eight minutes.
The teams played to a stalemate in the final stanza.
Ryan Engel led Randolph offensively with 14 points, Adrian Somano added 10 and Logan Lienemann tossed in seven.
The Cardinals were set to take on Tri County Northeast Feb. 3 in the Lewis & Clark Conference Basketball Tournament.
The tournament will continue throughout the week with the finals set for Rice Auditorium on the campus of Wayne State College Feb. 9.
Once the t0urney wraps up, the Cardinals only have three more regular season games on the schedule. They travel to Elgin Feb. 12 to take on the undefeated Elgin Public/Pope John squad. They then host Stuart and Boyd County for their final two regular season games of the season.
