GRAND ISLAND — 4-H youth from across Nebraska took aim in Grand Island for the 2026 Nebraska State 4-H Indoor Archery Championships on Saturday, January 24. Archers showed off their focus and skill as they competed in three age divisions: Cub (ages 8–11), Youth (ages 12– 14), and Young Adult (ages 15–17) and one of four shooting styles: Barebow (BB), Bowhunter Freestyle (BHFS), Freestyle (FS), or Freestyle Limited (FSL).
Five talented archers proudly represented the Cedar County 4-H Sharp Shooters at the state 4-H archery indoor competition, making their mark among Nebraska’s best.
Making their state shoot debut this year were Eros and Odin Bottolfsen of Hartington, sons of Troy and Nicole Bottolfsen. Eros competed in the Cub BHFS division, earning 18th place with a score of 205 among 25 competitors, while Odin took on the Youth BHFS division, placing 28th with a score of 204 in a field of 50 archers.
Three Cedar County archers returned to the state competition this year. Kade Heimes, son of Grant and Liz Heimes of Hartington, rose to the challenge of an older age bracket and finished 33rd with a score of 197 in BHFS. Oliver Lammers, son of Tucker and Katelyn Lammers of Hartington, showed impressive improvement this year, climbing from 16th place in last year’s Cub BHFS division to an outstanding 9th place finish with a score of 258 in the same division. Nate Eickhoff, son of John and Cheri Eickhoff of Fordyce, continued his strong state shoot tradition. Nate boosted his score by more than 20 points from last year to earn a score of 278 in the Youth BHFS division and bring home a superb 3rd place finish.
