1991: Brothers have chance meeting in dessert

LAUREL — Downtown Laurel is showing its concern for the morale of U.S. troops in the Middle East. Everywhere you turn yellow ribbons are cropping up. Lamp posts, trees and store fronts are now decorated with the symbol of love, support and concern.

LAUREL — Two brothers met in the middle of the war and experienced a “peace treaty” just for a few hours.

According to Verlin and Mildred Jensen, Laurel, their grandsons, Darrin and Tim Wichman, originally from Laurel, were able to find each other in the middle of the desert after not seeing each other for two and a half years.
