HARTINGTON — Pastor Bob Bryan will be leaving the community and the church he has served for almost seven years.
Bryan moved to Hartington from the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago when he was called to the Trinity Lutheran churches in Hartington and Crofton in July 2004.
For Bryan, being a pastor was much more than just being a pastor of his congregation.
He considered the whole community his parish – it was a community built on relationships formed as Bryan went to the grocery store, bank, schools and even the bars.
“I often felt as if I talked more about Jesus with people in the bars while shooting pool than I did in church, and I believe that is a good thing,” Bryan said.
Bryan always found opportunities for conversation and used them to get to know people better.
“I will miss all the people I have become friends with,” he said.
A favorite event for Bryan was the Motorcycle Blessing services.

HARTINGTON — One of the biggest storms to hit the East Coast in years will long be remembered by a group of 18 Cedar Catholic High School students.
The students were part of an Omaha Archdiocean trip to Washington, D.C., to take part in the annual March for Life event Jan. 22.
The local students and chaperones were part of a six-bus caravan carrying students from several Catholic high schools in the Diocese.
Monday morning marked the end of a long journey out of the storm, which dumped nearly three feet of snow in Pennsylvania, Maryland and parts of New Jersey stranding motorists and a convoy of buses after a semi jack-knifed on Interstate 76 in southwest Pennsylvania.
