Crops Update seminar is set for Feb. 4

CONCORD β€” Area producers and ag professionals will have an opportunity to sharpen their management decisions ahead of planting season during the Second Annual Northeast Nebraska Crops Update set for Feb. 4, at the UNL Haskell Agricultural Laboratory near Concord.

The free, one-day educational program runs from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with registration check-in beginning at 8:30 a.m. Organizers say the event is geared toward farmers, crop consultants, agribusiness representatives and others involved in row-crop production who want the latest research-based recommendations for the 2026 growing season. Lunch and refreshments will be provided at no cost.

Nebraska Extension specialists and industry representatives will cover a wide range of timely topics, including corn and soybean disease updates, soybean defoliation and insect management, and broader entomology concerns affecting Northeast Nebraska crops. Additional sessions will focus on in-season nitrogen reduction, nutrient management strategies, grain storage and post-harvest management, and Nebraska on-farm research updates.

A policy and economics session will also examine the agricultural outlook and producer considerations tied to the federal legislation commonly referred to as the β€œOne Big Beautiful Bill,” including policy pathways and production decisions for 2026. Industry partners will be on hand for product discussions, giving attendees a chance to connect research with practical applications.

Certified Crop Adviser continuing education units are pending approval for participants.

Pre-registration is requested by Jan. 29 for meal planning. Producers may register online at go.unl.edu/26register-crops-update or by calling 402-584-2261. The Haskell Ag Lab is located at 57905 866 Road, Concord. Additional details are available at go.unl.edu/26crop_update.
