Trojan trio claim MidState gold

NORFOLK — Cedar Catholic wrestlers walked away from the MidState Conference meet with an armload of hardware Saturday.

The Cedar boys team claimed three champions in Maverick Heine (132), Bodie Hochstein (144) and Easton Hochstein (150).

Two more Cedar wrestlers earned championships when the girls team wound up its day on the mat as Ashlynn Dailey (110) and Evie Freeman (120) also hauled home gold medals.

As a team, the Cedar Catholic boys wound up with a bronze medal, finishing behind Pierce, which won the team title for the boys with 184 points. Battle Creek was right behind at 182.5. The Trojans were third with 153.

In addition, the Trojans had second-place finishes from Brady Hochstein at 165 and Broderick Kleinschmit at 175. Hochstein lost a 1-0 decision to Daron Dozler of Boone Central in the finals.

Hunter Kuchta was third at 157 and Keyan Wickre was fourth at 126.
