Miller files for term on Randolph School Board

RANDOLPH — A few more incumbents have decided to seek another term in office.

As of Tuesday morning, all but one of the current Cedar County office holders up for election this year have filed.

District 3 Commissioner Dave McGregor, who is completing his fifth term on the board, said he does not plan to seek re-election.

Dick Donner filed paperwork last week to seek another term representing Cedar County’s northern district. County Surveyor Tim Gobel has not yet filed, but said he intends to seek another term.

District 2 Commissioner Mike Meyer is the only county official not up for election this year.

Three Randolph School Board members are also up for election this year.

To date, the only incumbent to file is Lucas Miller. Also up for re-election are Sandy Owens and Paul Schmit.

Randolph City Council members up for election this year are Aaron Nielsen and Daniel Korth, as well as mayor Dwayne Schutt.

Candidate filing opened Jan. 5. Incumbents have until 5 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 17, to file for office.

Non-incumbents have until 5 p.m., Monday, March 2, to file in order to appear on the May 12 primary election ballot.

For village offices, incumbents have until Monday, July 15, to file for re-election. New candidates have until Thursday, Aug. 1, to file for village board races.

All village board races will appear on the general election ballot, but not on May’s primary election ballot.

The 2026 general election will be held Tuesday, Nov. 3.

Those filing for county and local offices do so through the Cedar County clerk’s office. Candidates for U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives, Public Service Commission, Legislature, Natural Resources Districts and other offices file through the Nebraska Secretary of State’s office.

A Cedar County woman, Sheila Korth-Focken has filed to run on the Republican ticket for governor against incumbent Governor Jim Pillen. She worked as Randolph’s City Clerk in 2024.
