2011: Osmond, Randolph school boards talk about sharing

Jan. 23, 1991

RANDOLPH — With the recent course of events in the Middle East, Randolph’s Community Club seeks to remind Randolph businesses to display the American flag during the War against Iraq.

After discussion during the club’s meeting, Monday evening, the club decided display of the flag should be left to each individual business.

RANDOLPH — A variety of topics were discussed at Monday’s Randolph school board meeting.

Supt.David Hamm informed the board of a recent joint administration meeting between the Randolph and Osmond schools.

Administrators also met with Marcia Wakely and Karla Rice, the guidance counselors at Randolph and Osmond, and it was discovered perhaps six students from Randolph would be interested in taking courses through Northeast Community College’s nursing program.

Hamm stressed the meeting wasn’t just about what could be shared, as far as courses, but what could be offered to kids in general. Hamm also wants the schedule to reflect all the courses offered to students — even those courses no one has signed up for — so the board and the community can see everything being offered.

Supt. Hamm congratulated the reelected board members, Dan Backer, Barb Rohde and Paul Schmit, and thanked all the board members for their service, pointing out that it was also board appreciation week.

The board chose to retain the officers from last year: Paul Schmit, president; Tim Kint, vice president; Barb Rohde, secretary. The business manager, Sue Lenhoff, was appointed district treasurer-recording secretary.

The board also voted to approve First State Bank of Randolph as the school depository, Randolph Times as the official newspaper and Perry Law Firm as the school attorney.

There was some discussion about the suggestion at the last joint board meeting with Osmond that the two districts use the same law firm, but the Randolph board decided it would rather stay with the current firm.
