1951: Randolph’s very first TV set to be installed

RANDOLPH — Fifty years of married life were happily rounded out by Mr. and Mrs. W.W. Jones on Saturday, when some 60 to 70 relatives and friends paid their respect to this estimable couple during the afternoon. William W. Jones came from Dodgeville, Wis. to Nebraska 51 years ago.

RANDOLPH — The Farmers Union Cooperative association held its annual meeting at the Farmers Union store on Saturday. Directors elected were Carl Thaden, M.H. Gubbels and August Huwaldt, the latter to fill the unexpired term of Fred Lageschulte, deceased.

Jan.16, 1936 RANDOLPH — James Kerr, Randolph man, has taken over management of the local Hanford Cream and Produce Station, succeeding Lee Binning. Mr. Binning and family have moved to Pierce, where he expects to follow similar work.

RANDOLPH — The Dee Wilson Post, American Legion of Randolph, is again sponsoring a milk fund for the needy children of the Randolph school. Last year 800 quarts of milk were distributed.

RANDOLPH — Major James A. Casteel, son of Mr. and Mrs. W.E. Casteel has been promoted to provost marshal at Camp Shelby, MO, which presently houses 52,000 men.

The promotion places him third in command at the camp.

RANDOLPH — Bert Eberly, son of Mr. and Mrs. E.O. Eberly, left this week for Columbus for an examination for the U.S. Air Corps.

He recently completed a course in flying with the second class of Civilian Flying School conducted at the Norfolk Airport.

RANDOLPH — Pvt. Bernard Hassman is spending his first furlough here with his father, Ben Hassman, and sister, Mildred. He completed his basic training at Ft. Robinson, Ark. and reports Feb. 2 at a new station in Utah.

BELDEN—Pfc. Bernard Smith, now stationed in Japan, has been promoted to corporal, according to word received by his wife.

RANDOLPH — Randolph’s first television set will be installed soon, when M.M. Glasscock completes installation of a 16-inch television at his radio and electric shop.

RANDOLPH — Ivan Andrew enrolled in Wayne State Teachers College Monday. He is in his senior year at the college, from where he received his three-year degree some time ago.
