RANDOLPH — The Randolph girls basketball team dropped three home games last week.
Wausa defeated the Lady Cardinals 64-26 on Jan. 16. Niobrara/Verdigre earned a 62-21 win on Jan. 13, and Homer topped Randolph 60-11.
In the loss to Wausa, the Lady Vikings raced out to a 32-4 lead after the opening quarter. Randolph settled in offensively in the second period, but Wausa still increased its advantage and carried a 45-12 lead into halftime. The Lady Vikings outscored Randolph 19-14 in the second half to complete the 38-point win.
Abbey Backer led Randolph with 14 points, while Lilly Kuchta added four. Backer and Braylee Kelley each pulled down seven rebounds. Kuchta also finished with two assists and four steals.
Against Homer, the Lady Knights led 19-5 after the first quarter, then held Randolph scoreless in the second to take a 46-5 lead into halftime. Backer paced Randolph with nine points.
Niobrara/Verdigre led 26-6 after the first quarter and outscored Randolph in each period to secure the 41-point win. Backer scored 11 points, while Kuchta added six. Delayne Thelen and Aniston Schmidt scored two points each. Kuchta led Randolph on the boards with 12 rebounds.
Randolph was scheduled to host Bloomfield on Jan. 20 and Winnebago on Jan. 23. The Lady Cardinals were also scheduled to travel to Wynot on Jan. 27.
