HARTINGTON - After nearly a two-hour meeting Wednesday in front of a packed city hall audience, the Hartington Planning and Zoning Board voted to table a decision on granting a zoning change to a company hoping to build an anhydrous ammonia facility on the edge of Hartington.
Tristan Peitz, head of business development for Austin, Texas-based TalusAg, presented the board information explaining his company’s plan to build a small-scale ammonia production facility on the former site of a Cedar Knox Public Power District substation along Highway 84 west of Hartington.
The first step toward making that happen is to get the land rezoned from agricultural to light industrial.
In light of the presentation and myriad questions from the audience, Planning and Zoning Board member Scott McCaw made a motion to table the issue until legal questions could be answered. The Board then approved that motion and voted to adjourn.
About 70 people crammed into Hartington City Hall for the Planning and Zoning meeting to learn more about the project and ask questions to company officials.
