Chamber seeks nominees for annual awards

LAUREL — The Laurel community has never been short on hard workers, and now local leaders are asking residents to help shine a little spotlight on the people who keep the area running — from the family farm to Main Street.

The Laurel Chamber Community Club is seeking nominations for its annual Farm Family of the Year and Business of the Year awards ahead of the Agriculture and Business Appreciation Banquet set for Sunday, Feb. 1.

Chamber organizers said the evening is meant to be a celebration of the people who don’t always ask for recognition — the families who rise early, work late and keep Nebraska’s agricultural tradition alive, and the business owners who invest their time and energy into making Laurel a stronger, more connected community.

“These awards are a way to say thank you,” said Chamber member Craig Gutz. “They recognize the hard work, dedication and service that helps make our community strong.”

Community members are invited to nominate a deserving farm family or business they believe embodies those values. Organizers said nominations can highlight long-standing success, community involvement, leadership, or the simple everyday commitment that keeps local agriculture and business thriving.

Nominations must be submitted by Jan. 19. Nomination forms are available through the Laurel Chamber Community Club Facebook page, and can also be accessed by scanning QR codes located on page four of this week’s Advocate.
