Local wrestlers compete at Winside

WINSIDE — The Laurel-Concord- Coleridge boys wrestling team traveled to Winside Jan. 9 for the Winside Invitational and ended up 12th in the 18-team event.

Guardian Angels Central Catholic won with 142 points, 13 points ahead of runner-up Weeping Water. Randolph was third with 105, The Bears posted a team score of 32.

Owen Johnson placed second at 106 pounds to be the top scorer on the day for LCC.

Alex Allison at 165 and Jake Lipp at 190 each placed fourth score points and Paul Allison at 175 went 2-2 in the meet.

Other Laurel-Concord-Coleridge wrestlers competing in the event were Weston Patefield at 138 and Jayson Wayman at 175.

The Bears will return to the mat Jan. 16 with a tournament in Atkinson.
