HARTFORD — The Wynot Blue Devils traveled north to Hartford SD to take on the West Central Trojans Friday.
In what seems to be a pattern for the Blue Devils, they hung tough for three quarters but let the game slip away in the final frame.
West Central outscored Wynot 19-9 in the final frame to earn the 58-45 win. Wynot’s record slipped to 6-6 while West Central went to 8-0.
Devin Brummer continues his steady play and led the Blue Devils with 15 points. Braylon Hans is starting to come on and hit double figures knocking down four three pointers to finish with 12 points.
West Central got almost half of their points from the free throw line. Connor Mebius had a big night pouring in 25 points. Will Kuhl also hit double figures finishing with 11 points for the home team.
In the first quarter Braylon Hans, Devin Brummer and Nixen Heimes hit treys for the Blue Devils. West Central got 4 points from Connor Mebius and treys by Will Kuhl and Bubba Kone as they pulled out to a 17-9 early lead.
Wynot would rally back in the second quarter as the Blue Devils went on an 18-8 run of their own.
Devin Brummer hit for seven points and Braylon Hans buried a pair of treys to fuel the scoring surge.
Wynot held a 27-24 advantage at the halftime break.
The third quarter saw West Central rally back.
Seven points by Connor Mebius and a trey by Haden Heier lead the 15- 9 run. Wynot got a three pointer by Killian Steinhaus and a basket each from Lane Heimes and Kotner Koch but West Central took a 39-36 lead into the fourth.
In the fourth quarter the Blue Devils were held to a three pointer by Braylon and some free throws.
Meanwhile West Central got a field goal each by Bubba Kone and Will Kuhl.
The Trojans also got 13 points from the free throw line as a team to pull away for the 58-45 win.
