LAUREL — The Laurel-Concord-Coleridge Lady Bears finished the week with a 7-6 record after splitting a pair of home games and dropping a road contest at unbeaten Elkhorn Valley.

LCC earned a 57-50 win over Humphrey/Lindsay Academy on Jan. 9 after falling to Cedar Catholic 62-57 on Jan. 8. Earlier in the week, the Lady Bears dropped a Jan. 6 54-37 decision at Elkhorn Valley.

In the win over Humphrey/ Lindsay Academy, Rena Rasmussen scored 19 points and Kaida Eriksen added 17 to lead LCC. Hattie McCorkindale finished with 12 points and Carlie Kvols added eight.

Rasmussen recorded a doubledouble with 14 rebounds. McCorkindale pulled down eight boards.

Eriksen dished out five assists and Kvols had four. Kvols and Rasmussen each recorded two steals.

Cedar Catholic visited Laurel on Jan. 8, one week after the two teams met at the Great Northeast Nebraska Shootout in Wayne - a game LCC won 70-52. This time, Cedar came away with the 62-57 win.

The Lady Bears led 14-9 after the first quarter, but Cedar outscored LCC in the second to take a 28-24 lead into halftime. The Lady Trojans extended the margin to 43-32 after three quarters before LCC rallied with 25 points in the fourth. Cedar Catholic, however, matched the surge with 19 points in the final period to hold off the comeback.

Rasmussen led LCC with 29 points and 13 rebounds, going 15-for-20 from the free-throw line. Kvols added 12 points and six rebounds, while Eriksen scored eight points and had four assists. Karli Ferris added four points.

LCC traveled to Tilden on Jan. 6 to face unbeaten Elkhorn Valley and trailed 14-9 after the first quarter.

The Lady Falcons extended the lead to 24-15 at halftime and maintained control down the stretch, outscoring LCC 16-7 in the fourth quarter on the way to the 54-37 win.

Rasmussen paced LCC with 14 points. Eriksen scored eight, while McCorkindale and Kvols each finished with six. Boston Brown added a 3-pointer. Rasmussen grabbed eight rebounds and McCorkindale pulled down five.

The Lady Bears were scheduled to travel to Wayne on Jan. 13 for a regular- season matchup before hosting Summerland on Jan. 16 and traveling to Neligh-Oakdale on Jan. 17.
