DAVID CITY - The Cedar Catholic Trojan wrestling team placed third in the team standings at the Aquinas Invitational Wrestling Tournament Jan. 10 after scoring 129.5 points.
The Aquinas Monarchs won their own tournament with 179 points with Scotus Central Catholic coming in second with 136.
The Trojans accumulated their total with three champions, a runnerup, a third-place showing and a fourth.
The Hochsteins, Bodie, Easton and Brady all won titles.
Bodie at 144 pounds used three pins and a major decision to grab first at the weight.
His teammate and fellow 144-pounder, Hunter Kuchta placed fourth after Bodie sent him to the consolation bracket.
Easton Hochstein at 150 pounds parlayed three pins into his championship and didn’t wrestle a six-minute match when you add up the times of all three matches.
Brady, who is the “pin king” for the Cedar Catholic wrestling program after posting his 100th career pin (and counting) during the meet, used three to arrive in the finals and won his title match by default.
Mav Heine at 132 pounds placed second getting two pins in less than a minute total and a major decision to arrive in the championship bout where he was edged out by a 7-3 decision.
Anson Noecker was perhaps the surprise of the day for coach Justin Bartling, placing third at 190 pounds after dropping a match by pin with 14 seconds left in the match where he was trailing just 10-8.
Three additional Trojan grapplers won at least a match in the tournament.
Cedar Catholic will host a triangular on Jan. 15 for the boys and girls with the Trojans heading to Battle Creek for an invitational on Jan. 17.
